*You must own a Synology NAS to run this app. To get the full features of DS cloud, the version of the Cloud Station running on your DiskStation should be 4.0 and above. Versions starting from 2.10.4 would only support iOS 8 and onward*

DS cloud is the mobile counterpart of Cloud Station on iOS devices. You can select the folders on your DiskStation that you wish to sync to your mobile devices, and make them available for offline viewing anywhere you go. DS cloud also allows you to decide how youd like to sync: you can set the maximum file size as well as the types of file you wish to sync for each folder.

Pros and cons of DS cloud app for iPhone and iPad

DS cloud app good for

I just started using this when Microsoft onedrive changed their policies and also deleted a business account that I had with them. I wish I used this earlier, its awesome and very compatible for the iphone. It can open and view files faster than onedrive on wifi or cellular. It also feels better to know all your stuff is not stored in some huge server room in god knows where.
A password / touchid option when you open the app or a specific folder will be a perfect upgrade :)
Great App, but why is there no passcode or Touch-ID lock yet?
Ive been using disk station for the cloud sync feature but this is so much better. Love Synology, have three of them and running the apps on 50+ PCs and iOS devices.
If you want to privately store your files on your home network and not on a cloud service provider like Dropbox or skydrive this app is for you. Can use it on mobile devices and download/install the PC or MAC client too. Best of all, your files are not scattered across the Internet in unknown locations.
How to Automatically backup my iphone camera roll into my synology NAS ?

Some bad moments

Starting the app results in crash at logo Not usable any longer
Standard function for over sky drives. Where it here? Put 1 star for bad functions and interface.
First, which is not a problem per se, is that this works with the Synology network disks - you have to have that. And I do, which is fine. If you dont, this wont help. Second, it hard crashes my iPhone. I had not yet had any hard crashes, until yesterday when I installed this app, and I got two of them. These are the hard crashes where the phone is completely frozen - no response to any of the buttons and the screen is frozen. Third, this is not really a "cloud" app, like iCloud or Google Drive. You cant save a document from Microsoft Word on your iPad to your Synology disk. At least I couldnt find out how. (No problem with Google Drive, OneDrive, or Dropbox.) Instead it copies (synchs) the files from the shared folder(s) on your Synology disk to your iDevice. But since the file system in iOS is not user accessible, this is kind of useless. Fourth, since its synching the files from your Synology folders to your iDevice, it can fill up the memory on your iDevice. Maybe its useful if youre a developer and want to get at that stuff?
Works pretty well, BUT as on iOS 10.2, I have lost the ability to save a image to my iPhones camera role, which is hugely important. Please fix this feature ASAP. Regarding that specific feature in general. It should not be buried so deep down in the preview area, which is where is was before. It should be on the file properties page too.
Was very much looking forward to this app,but just cant get it to work correctly and integration with other apps is (still) poor. In the defense of Synology it must be stated however, that the app is available only since 72 h. I expect the 1 star to become 5 stars quickly.
DS cloud only sync with my DS Station on the first time. After that, sync does not work.
